Academic Path
2015-2016 – International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt – Germany.
2012-2015 – Master in Specialized Music Performance in Bass Clarinet, with Professor Ernesto Molinari, in Hochshule der Künste Bern; finished with Excellent and awarded with Eduard Tschumi Music Prize.
2009-2011 – Master in Music Interpretation in Clarinet at Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo from Instituto Politécnico do Porto, with Professor Nuno Pinto. Master Thesis: “Portuguese Music for Solo Bass Clarinet”.
2006-2009 – End the degree in clarinet at Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo from Instituto Politécnico do Porto with Nuno Pinto as clarinet teacher.
2003-2006 – Curso de Instrumento (High School) in Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo (EPMVC), with the clarinet teacher Mário Bezerra. Considered by the school one of the three best students to complete the course in this year.
2000-2003 – Curso Básico de Instrumento in Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo (EPMVC) under the clarinet teacher Mário Bezerra.

2007 - 2012 - Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa (bass clarinet) with regular presentations in Portugal and Spain, various CD recordings and wind band competitions participations.
2006 - 2011 – Bass Clarinet of “Invicta All Stars” Clarinet Choir.
In addiction, played also with other groups, as Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and Ensemble, Grupo Música Nova, FAM Ensemble, Vertigo Ensemble, Boswil Ensemble, Orquestra Sinfónica da Póvoa do Varzim, among others.
In all this formations, Hugo had the opportunity to work with conductors and composers as: Sir Simon Rattle, Pierre Boulez, Pable Heras-Casado, François-Xavier Roth, David Robertson, Matthias Pintscher, Heinz Holliger, Peter Eötvös, Helmut Lachenmann, Jan Cober, Helmut Oehring, José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Douglas Bostock, Eugene Corporon, Alex Schillings, Patrick Jüdt, Clement Power, Erik Ona, among others.
Chamber Music
Hugo Queirós integrated many different standard chamber formations as clarinet quartet, clarinet trio, woodwind quartet, wind quintet, trio with clarinet, bassoon and piano, and with not standard formations with accordion, percussion, guitar, harp, with whom played many diferents repertoire.
During his formations, he worked under the guidance of: Yakov Marr, Ricardo Alves, Nuno Pinto, Hugues Kestman, Monika Urbaniak, Ernesto Molinari, Elena Casoli and Patrick Jüdt.
Master Classes and Improvement Courses
During his academic life, Hugo Queirós participated in many master-class’s, summer academies here he took class’s with a lot of world renown musician, being noteworthy the clarinet players Phillipe Cupper, Michel Lethiec, Étienne Lamaison, Romain Guyot, Paolo Beltramini, Larry Combs, Jonathan Coller, António Saiote, Nuno Pinto, José Luís Estellés, António Salguero, Ronald Van Spaendonck, Florent Pujuila, Vítor Pereira and the bass clarinetists Harry Sparnaay, Henri Bok, Jan Guns, Luis Gomes, Rocco Parisi and Ernesto Molinari.

Artistic Path
The eclectic artistic path of Hugo Queirós is full of different experiences, in very distinctive worlds. The special interests in modern music resulted in many collaborations with composers and premieres of new compositions in various formations. Aside with his master, he made a research on the Portuguese repertoire for Solo Bass Clarinet, which result in some solo recitals and lectures under this matter (Porto, Chaves, Viana do Castelo – 2011). He also worked with a professional theatre company with many performances in Portugal (Jangada Teatro – 2011).
Hugo have being asked to participate with Bass Clarinet Recitals and chamber music participation in various international music festivals.
Competitions
2015 – Awarded with the Eduard Tschumi Music Prize
2012 – 1st Place in 10º Internacional Clarinet Competition “Città di Carlino” – Bass Clarinet Category.
2012 – 1st Place in I Bass Clarinet Competition “Julian Menéndez” in Ávila – Spain.
2011 – 1st Place at “60th World Music Contest” (Kerkrade – Netherlands) in the concert division, with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa.
2009 – Semi-finalist in 23º Prémio Jovens Músicos – Senior Clarinet Category.
2009 – 2nd Place in the “II Concurso de Terras de La-Salette”, category Clarinet – Senior.
2008 – Semi-finalist in the clarinet competition "Young Artist Competition." Clarifest 2008, Kansas City (USA).
2008 – 1st Place in the 1st section of “Certâmen Internacional de Bandes de Música de La Sénia” (Spain), with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa.

Other Aptitudes
Hugo Queirós is quite curious and loves to learn new things.
He can do basic work with computers (Macintosh and Windows), and he has also the basic knowledgement on audio, to be able to setup his own recitals with live and pre-recorded electronics.
Since a few years ago, he is amateur photographer.
He has a Portuguese Driver License since 2007.
On the language skills, beside the Portuguese (his mother tongue), Hugo speaks English and Spanish, and in June 2012 he finished an A2 course of German.
